Alexis Spyrou, P.E.

Alex received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and brings nearly 30 years of structural engineering experience — and a foundation built long before his first day on the job. Beginning in high school, he worked as a carpenter's helper through college, giving him hands-on construction knowledge that informs every design decision and ensures his solutions are both sound and constructible. That practical instinct is matched by a deeply collaborative approach.

Alex engages architects, contractors, and owners as true partners, actively listening and integrating their perspectives to achieve the best possible outcome for every client. He is known for being highly responsive and readily available when project challenges arise.

Jacek Bulak, P.E.

Jack is a Professional Engineer with over 10 years of experience and an international perspective rooted in his Polish-American background and M.S. in Civil Engineering from Krakow University of Technology. Relocating to the U.S. in 2013, he built deep expertise managing over 200 projects annually — spanning analysis, design, and full project lifecycles from pre-bid through construction closeout.

After earning his P.E. license in Maryland in 2021, Jack transitioned to independent consulting and now partners with firms across the DC and New York metro areas. He brings strong code knowledge, hands-on experience, and a collaborative approach to every structural engineering challenge.

Gregory Nelson

Gregory brings a rare blend of structural engineering expertise and architectural sensibility, rooted in a B.S. in Architecture and Urban Planning and an early mastery of computer-aided design. His career spans steel, concrete, wood, and masonry — with landmark projects for Intel, TRW, Sky Harbor International Airport, and Chase Field, alongside custom residential and pool design work.

Since joining A.S. Engineering in 2008, Gregory's creative problem-solving and passion for design have aligned seamlessly with the firm's philosophy. His foundation in art and architecture gives him a distinctive lens for tackling complex structural challenges across a broad range of project types.
